Skills @ Schools & College

Education and Skills are part of the continuum leading to both professional and personal growth for the individual. In India, the integration of both Education and Skills is guided by the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF). The NSQF creates career pathways for students of schools and colleges in vocational education and training. The system is of great relevance for building capacities of young people making them an employable for high growth sectors. By creating a structure that leads a trainee to Bachelors in Vocational Education (B.Voc) this system lets students chose careers in skills, linked to jobs and specialization, over simple academic qualifications.

IL&FS Skills ventured into Skill for Schools with the first pilot with Government of Haryana and Automobile Skills Development Council (ASDC) for students of Class IX for Level 1- 4 (on NSQF) for in the automobile sector. We have rapidly expanded this programme to 232 schools in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan in sectors such as Retail, IT/ITeS as well. The first batch of trainees, who successfully completed their Level 4 ASDC assessment, got placed in a Job fair as Rohtak.

IL&FS Skills has already trained 30,000 under graduate and graduate students on Employability Skills as part of our Skills for Colleges initiative. We are now partnering with several National and Regional Universities to offer Vocational Training programmes as part of their curriculum. We are now delivering industry relevant skills development programmes of Levels 4, 5 and 6 (as per NSQF) for students from any stream - commerce, science and arts at national universities like Pune University, University of Delhi.
