Genesis:In 2010, IL&FS Transportation Networks Limited (ITNL), India’s largest Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) operator in India came together with IL&FS Education, to create a model aiming at social development and economic growth of the communities along the roads being built by the company

About the project: Parivartan, meaning transformation, is a unique CSR initiative guided by the conviction that education, employability and employment are the transformational tools in the process of community development. They bring in change in the community and build a long-term linkage mechanism to ensure sustainability. Parivartan includes an all round holistic approach through the following interventions in the communities along the highways.

Key Components:

  • Technology interventions in schools through K-Yan (, our single wire community computer which converts any wall into an interactive classroom
  • Education on Wheels ( Parivartan Computer Buses for IT literacy at the doorstep of schools without electricity in remote locations. Fully enabled with 17 computers, certified teachers and power back up, these buses make learning fun by use of multi-media content
  • Improve employability of youth through our Industry endorsed skill development programmes delivered in a hub and spoke model.
  • Other community development initiatives like Community Development Centre (CDC) and Mobile Health Clinics
